Sidelined: The QB and Me has this charming mix of comedy and romance that feels refreshingly genuine. The pacing is light but manages to delve into some heavier themes, particularly around grief and aspiration. Dallas, played with an earnestness that feels relatable, is on a quest to honor her late mother’s dreams through dance. Then there's Drayton, the football star with more depth than you'd expect, bringing a nice contrast to the shiny dance world. Justin Wu's direction keeps things engaging without losing sight of the emotional core. It doesn’t shy away from exploring vulnerability amid the rom-com tropes, which I appreciate. The performances are solid, and the chemistry feels real, making this one stand out in a crowded genre.
