‘Sinterklaas en het Mysterie op de Stoomboot’ is quite the wild ride for a family film, really. The atmosphere balances that holiday cheer with a touch of danger, thanks to Doctor Wings Laer and his scheming. It’s interesting how the film mixes adventure with some darker tones, particularly with the whole 'bark spray' subplot.
