Smokey Smith

In Smokey Smith, Bob Steele plays the titular character, whose parents are murdered by outlaws during a wagon train attack. Driven by vengeance, Smokey seeks to track down the gang member who stole a ring from his father's finger. The sheriff of a nearby town, played by Earl Dwire, appoints Smokey as a deputy after he saves the sheriff from a stagecoach ambush.

As a deputy, Smokey infiltrates the gang responsible for his parents' deaths, posing as a wanted man. Tensions rise as he faces jealousy from gang member Kent, who is vying for the attention of Bess Bart, the stepdaughter of the gang leader played by George 'Gabby' Hayes. This conflict adds layers to the narrative, highlighting the themes of loyalty and betrayal in a lawless frontier.
