Softie is quite the interesting piece of cinema. It unfolds through the eyes of ten-year-old Johnny, who really feels out of place in his rough surroundings. The atmosphere is heavy, yet there's this delicate touch to the way he navigates his mom's chaotic love life—a single mother trying to find her footing. The pacing might feel slow for some, but it really allows you to soak in Johnny's perspective, which is mature for his age. I found the performances to be quite genuine, especially in how they portray vulnerability without veering into melodrama. It’s this blend of youth and harsh reality that makes the film distinctive, creating a raw but heartfelt narrative.
