Songadya

The story follows Namya, the son of a strict mother, Shitabai. He is captivated by a Tamasha performance featuring the Mahabharata scene of Draupadi's Vastraharan and disrupts the show in his excitement. His journey continues when he travels to another village to see the performance again, only to find himself stepping in as an understudy for the role of Hanuman when the original actor gets drunk.

As Namya's relationship with the dancer Kalavati develops, he faces challenges from his mother, who ultimately kicks him out of the house. This film showcases a mix of comedic and dramatic elements through Namya's experiences and the colorful backdrop of Tamasha theater. With a notable cast including Usha Chavan, Dada Kondke, and Nilu Phule, Songadya captures the essence of rural Indian entertainment in the 1970s.
