Sonjas Rapport

The story follows a young woman from a progressive middle-class family who relocates to Shanghai with her husband, Rolf. Despite becoming a mother, she resists the confines of private life and pursues a role as a scout after meeting Dr. Richard Sorge. Under the cover name Sonja, she undergoes training near Moscow before embarking on her first assignment in Manchuria.

As her missions unfold, Sonja navigates various relationships, including an affair with her comrade Ernst, which complicates her life further when she becomes pregnant. Her journey takes her to Poland and Switzerland, where she continues her espionage work, ultimately earning the Order of the Red Banner for her contributions. The film intricately depicts her struggles against the backdrop of impending war and personal sacrifice.
