So, 'Spy Hard' is a goofy take on the spy genre that you either find charming or cringey, depending on your mood. It leans heavily into parody, with Leslie Nielsen as Agent WD-40, delivering his usual deadpan humor. Rick Friedberg's direction keeps the pace snappy, and there’s a ton of visual gags sprinkled throughout. The film doesn’t take itself seriously, which is both its strength and weakness. The practical effects are delightfully over-the-top, especially the gadgetry and explosions. It’s interesting how it plays off classic spy tropes, while also throwing in some cheeky pop culture references. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s definitely a niche audience that appreciates its silliness.
