Steam Cloud Rising

Set in 1979, Steam Cloud Rising delves into the complexities of Hugh's life as he grapples with his homosexuality in a conservative environment. The narrative unfolds in a small town where disclosing one's sexual identity poses significant risks, particularly for someone like Hugh, who is at the height of the social ladder.

As Hugh attends community meetings about a local nuclear power plant, he forms a connection with Winston, a slightly older disabled man. Their relationship becomes a safe space for Hugh to express his internal conflicts regarding his identity and the pain experienced by another student, Kabold, who is openly gay.
