Swayamvar is an interesting blend of comedy, drama, and romance set in a household ruled by the domineering Durgadevi. It paints a vivid, albeit troubling, picture of family dynamics and societal norms around marriage. The pacing feels a bit off at times, but it gives you a sense of the characters' frustrations. Shanti and Roopa's experiences are both relatable and frustrating, a reflection of their mother's harshness. The performances are decent, capturing the tension and humor in everyday life. What stands out, though, is how the film tackles themes of choice and autonomy, especially for women, through a comedic lens. It’s not polished, but it has a certain charm that keeps you engaged.
