Sweetheart of the Navy

The story follows singer Joan Whitney, known as the "Sweetheart of the Navy" among sailors, as she attempts to reopen the Snug Harbor Cafe. After her partner absconds with their funds, the cafe opens without fanfare. To help raise money, Joan's sailor friends, Andy and Pete, concoct a plan involving a staged boxing match featuring the fleet's champion, Bumper Martin.

The plot thickens when straight-laced yeoman Eddie Harris steps in for Andy in the fight. Joan decides to use her charm to persuade Eddie to participate, despite the disapproval of Navy Commander Lodge, who is preparing Eddie for the Naval Academy at Annapolis.
