Tauerngold

The story follows Jakob Hirzbacher and his son Andris as they move to a village in the Hohe Tauern, lured by rumors of gold. However, they face hostility from the local population and find shelter in a barracks camp with other migrant workers. The film portrays their hardships and the challenges they encounter while searching for work and acceptance.

Jakob's journey takes a romantic turn when he finds employment with Katharina Radacher, a woman whose family once thrived in the gold mining industry. Their relationship develops against a backdrop of economic desperation and local corruption, particularly from the mining councillor Hubert von Feileis. As Jakob stands in the way of Feileis's plans regarding Katharina's mining rights, the stakes rise, leading to a confrontation that could alter their fates.
