The Communists

Set in Manfield, South Yorkshire, 'The Communists' centers on Joe Starkhill, an out-of-work steelworker turned radical revolutionary. He and his comrades take over the Town Hall, holding several hostages and declaring a socialist revolution. However, a series of mishaps, including a faulty phone line, lead to the situation being dismissed as a hoax by the police.

The plot thickens as the failure to alert the media turns Starkhill and his band of revolutionaries into an unintended media sensation. As the Town Hall becomes surrounded by police, press, and the public, the film humorously critiques both the revolutionary fervor and the absurdity of media sensationalism surrounding such events.
