The Cossack Duke

The Cossack Duke tells the story of Anna, the daughter of a general, who is in love with Lieutenant Cernieff. The general's refusal to allow their union due to Cernieff's lack of fortune sets off a tragic chain of events. Anna seeks assistance from the duchess, who agrees to deliver a letter to Cernieff. However, the duke mistakenly thinks the letter signifies an affair, leading to Cernieff's imprisonment and death sentence.

This silent film features performances from Alwin Neuß, Alfi Zangenberg, Otto Lagoni, Ellen Kornbeck, and Einar Zangenberg. Although the beginning of the film is missing, the preserved fragment captures the pivotal moment between Anna and the duchess, highlighting the film's dramatic tension.
