The Crime of David Levinstein

David Levinstein's story begins with his tragic upbringing as a young boy whose parents are arrested and killed by the Nazis. He is taken in by Monsieur Ray, the head of his school, but soon faces betrayal at the hands of Donnadieu, a pro-Nazi schoolmaster who denounces him to the Gestapo. This act leads to David's imprisonment in the Auschwitz concentration camp.

After his release in 1945, David attempts to rebuild his life and marries Jacky, the woman he loves. However, as the years pass, the desire for revenge against those who wronged him grows stronger. The film follows David's journey as he tracks down the teacher who betrayed him, highlighting the long-lasting impact of trauma and the complexities of justice and vengeance in the aftermath of such profound loss.
