The English Lesson

Set a decade into the future, The English Lesson introduces Virgil, an English Language Steward who works in a school boasting a 100 percent success rate. His role is to assist a computerized English instructor that delivers classes at a level far below students' capabilities, ensuring that everyone passes and the school's reputation remains intact.

Virgil's life takes a turn when he develops feelings for a student named Marie, who inspires him to break free from the monotony of his job. However, he faces significant pressure from his superiors when he fails one of his students, leading to a moral dilemma as he is coerced into altering the test score to protect his position amidst a dwindling job market. The film critiques a corrupted educational system that prioritizes reputation over genuine learning.
