This film follows young Ludvik, an aspiring scientist whose experiments often lead to chaos. With his practical sense outpacing his common sense, he creates comedic situations, such as flooding the bathroom and shattering pumpkins. His scientific pursuits are at odds with his parents' wishes for him to focus on music.

Ludvik’s fascination with a dangerous experiment involving carbide and water sets the stage for potential disaster, especially when a friend alerts his physics teacher.
