The second part, known as The 5th, focuses on the tumultuous love story between a young traffic officer and his pro-democracy activist girlfriend. This segment highlights their relationship amidst the political unrest of 1989 and the impending transition of Hong Kong's sovereignty in 1997. The title of the film is inspired by Beethoven's 5th Symphony, which the police used to drown out protests during this significant period.
