The Girl Who Couldn’t Get Married

The film focuses on Li Caifeng, a village girl who values her beauty and uses it to measure potential husbands by their bride prices. This leads her to be known as "the high-price girl." Initially, she falls in love with Dunzi, a local farmer, but soon dismisses him for his plain appearance and rough manners. Heartbroken, Dunzi turns to alcohol, but with the encouragement of Caifeng’s sister, Caijuan, he eventually finds purpose in farming again.

As the narrative unfolds, Dunzi and Caijuan develop a deeper bond and marry, while Caifeng struggles with her relationships. After rejecting a contract worker named Cheng Lin, she later learns that true love and support can come from unexpected places. Cheng Lin, with the help of Liyun, finds success in his studies and ultimately discovers genuine love. This story emphasizes the contrasting values of beauty and character in the pursuit of happiness in rural life.
