The Good Person of Szechwan

The story follows three gods who come to Szechwan in search of a truly good person. They discover Shen Teh, a poor prostitute who opens her home to them out of kindness. In return, they provide her with money to start anew, but her journey to maintain her goodness is fraught with challenges.

To navigate the harsh realities she faces, Shen Teh creates an alter ego named Shui Ta, who embodies the toughness necessary for survival. As she juggles her two identities, her relationship with a melancholic pilot complicates her existence further. The film raises poignant questions about the nature of goodness and the sacrifices it demands in a difficult world.
