The Hard Corps is an interesting mix of action and thriller, helmed by Sheldon Lettich, who has a knack for tough narratives. The film centers on an Army vet putting together a ragtag team of bodyguards to watch over a retired boxer who's trying to stay out of trouble. The premise is solid, but then it throws in the twist of a potential romance between the boxer’s sister and one of the bodyguards, adding some personal stakes. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, swinging from intense fight scenes to more subdued moments of tension. The performances have a certain grit to them, and you can feel the physicality in the fight choreography. Practical effects give it a grounded vibe, making the action feel raw and impactful, which is a plus in a genre that sometimes leans on CGI.
