The Intruder (1975) is this low-budget gem that thrives on atmosphere and tension. The island setting is both remote and claustrophobic, which ramps up the feeling of isolation. The pacing is deliberate, letting the dread build as the characters, each with their own motives for being there, start to drop like flies. There's a nice blend of practical effects that, while perhaps not cutting-edge by today’s standards, have an undeniable charm and make the horror feel tangible. The performances are a mixed bag, but some cast members really lean into their roles, adding depth to an otherwise straightforward premise. You get that classic 'who's next?' feel that keeps you guessing, while the unseen menace hangs in the air like a thick fog. It's all very intriguing.
