The James Baldwin Anthology

This anthology includes Baldwin's historic speech at UC Berkeley in 1979 and his dialogue with Malcolm X from the 1960s. The documentary also presents a collection of mixed media images created by Claire Burch as a memorial following Baldwin's death in 1987.

In addition to the archival footage, the film includes a half-hour segment featuring an interview with Professor Erskine Peters, who hosted Baldwin during his time at Berkeley. There is also footage from Cody’s Bookstore in Berkeley, where author David Lemming reads from his biography of Baldwin, sharing stories of Baldwin's efforts to help his friend, painter Beauford Delaney, during a difficult time.
