The Life and Extraordinary Adventures of Private Ivan Chonkin

The film tells the story of Private Chonkin, who finds himself left behind in a small Ukrainian village as war breaks out with Germany in 1941. Lacking intelligence, he is tasked with guarding a downed military aircraft, forgotten by the authorities. This situation allows him to pursue a romantic interest in the village postmistress, Njura, until the local militia becomes aware of his presence.
