The Light That I Feel

This installation features a series of video segments that last between 8 to 14 minutes each. The project was filmed on the island of Sandhornøy in Norway, utilizing local actors and dancers to create a compelling visual narrative. The work was notably presented on eight screens arranged within a specially built architectural structure on the beach, enhancing its immersive quality.

Yang Fudong draws inspiration from the works of Ingmar Bergman, marking a significant moment as he directed European actors for the first time. The film emphasizes the interplay between the natural environment and human expression, showcasing how elements like wind and trees can convey emotion and storytelling. Landscapes play a crucial role, serving as both a backdrop and a character in their own right, highlighting the beauty and complexity of the Scandinavian setting.
