The Marble Empire delves into the various types of marble sourced from different regions of the Roman Empire, such as yellow from Numidia, red from Peloponnese, and pink alabasters from Algeria. It examines the work of the "hunters of marbles" who sought these precious stones, often valued more than gold, to create stunning sculptures and architectural masterpieces.

Inspired by Raniero Gnoli's art "Marmora Romana," this film presents a historical perspective on the use of marble in the creation of portraits and statues that celebrate emperors, warriors, mythological beings, and divinities. The documentary showcases how these powerful works contributed to the uniqueness of imperial Rome, emphasizing the importance of marble as a medium for artistic expression and cultural heritage.
