The Mid-nightmare: The Sequel

The film follows Li Xiaoxia, who believes her lover, Song Danping, has died. In her grief, she seeks to become a nun, but her father, warlord Li Xianchen, reacts violently, illustrating the oppressive familial dynamics at play. As Japanese invaders approach, Li Xianchen sends his daughter to Shanghai for safety.
