This film follows the story of Shusui, who embarks on a journey to resolve turmoil within the Kishu domain after a marriage proposal is declined. The plot thickens with the death of the Kishu family's lord, leading Shusui to confront a threat against the young samurai, Shin'nosuke, who is the proposed suitor for Kikuji.

As Shusui navigates the political landscape, he is accompanied by Kikuji and his servant, Sasao Yoshinari. The stakes rise as Iwakura Guntayu, the Edo elder of the Kishu domain, schemes to install his concubine's child as the new lord, putting Shin'nosuke's life in jeopardy. The film showcases the dramatic interplay of personal and political conflicts typical of the jidaigeki genre.
