The Old Donkey

Set during winter in the northern Chinese province of Dansu, The Old Donkey tells the story of poor farmers in Gaotai village who are forcibly removed from their land. The local businessman, alongside the party bosses of the communist village council, drives the farmers away to make way for a chemical factory.

This narrative delves into the struggles faced by rural communities in the face of economic development. The film offers a poignant look at the clash between traditional agricultural life and the encroaching forces of modernization.
