The Prince of Graustark

The Prince of Graustark tells the story of Prince Robin, who must navigate the pressures of a looming financial crisis in his country. With thirty million dollars needed to satisfy a Russian loan, he faces pressure to marry the daughter of a neighboring prince. However, Robin's independent spirit, inherited from his American father, leads him to refuse this arranged marriage.

As Prince Robin sails to America in search of the funds, he hopes to meet the girl of his dreams. His journey introduces him to a self-made millionaire, William W. Blithers, who is eager to marry off his daughter to royalty. A twist of fate leads Robin to rescue a girl from drowning, believing her to be Blithers' daughter, though she keeps her identity a secret. This film showcases themes of love, independence, and the clash between personal desires and societal expectations.
