The Ship of Fools

Set in Sarajevo in 1992, The Ship of Fools follows Vedran, a former musician, as he attempts to provide a semblance of normalcy for his family amidst the chaos of war. He hides them in his old house, striving to shield them from the surrounding madness. Despite his efforts, the realities of the Bosnian War inevitably intrude on their lives.

When Vedran's daughter becomes pregnant, he is determined to give her a proper wedding in the historical town hall. This narrative highlights the struggle between the desire for a normal family life and the harsh disruptions of war. With a focus on the personal rather than the political, the film captures the emotional landscape of a family trying to navigate their lives during a tumultuous period.
