The Singer Stories. Journey among the Cantastorie of Puglia

This documentary investigates the roots of Apulian musical tradition, blending written and oral histories. It starts with the symbolic arrival of Aeneas in Porto Badisco and takes viewers through the narratives of notable singers, including Uccio Aloisi, Tonino Zurlo, and Matteo Salvatore. These cantastorie are depicted as precursors to today’s singer-songwriters, showcasing their influence on the region’s cultural landscape.

The film features contributions from various artists, such as ethnomusicologist Antonio Infantino, Moni Ovadia, Daniele Sepe, and Michele Placido.
