The Song of the Angels

The film follows Yang Xiaoji, a young girl living in Wuji Village with her siblings and paraplegic grandmother while their parents work in Shenzhen. As the New Year approaches, the village holds a Dong song contest, where Xiaoji stands out by winning first place in her primary school category.

Despite the excitement of the contest, the family faces the reality of their parents' absence during the holiday season. To foster a sense of community and joy, Teacher Xu and the village chief organize a New Year's Eve dinner for all the children whose parents are not home. This gathering serves to highlight the themes of togetherness and resilience in the face of disappointment, making the film a poignant reflection on familial bonds and cultural traditions.
