The Suitors

The Suitors follows Iranian businessman Haji, who returns to Manhattan with his new bride, Mariyam. His friends organize a traditional celebration that includes the controversial ritual of slaughtering a lamb, which leads to unforeseen complications when a neighbor calls the police. The situation escalates tragically, resulting in Haji's death and leaving Mariyam to navigate her unexpected widowhood.

In the aftermath, Haji's friends vie for Mariyam's affection, but their attempts are met with reluctance. Mohammed, sensing the urgency of the situation, hastily proposes marriage, leading to a series of tragi-comedic events.
