The Undergrads is a quirky 1985 TV movie that dives into the dynamics of family and aging with a light, comedic touch. You’ve got this elderly man, who’s determined to resist the notion of an old-age home, and his grandson, who’s equally determined to keep him out of one. Their unlikely dormitory setup leads to a series of humorous and heartfelt moments that really capture the essence of generational clashes. The pacing is pretty relaxed, allowing for some nice character development, especially in how the two lead performances play off each other. Not a lot of flashy effects, but the charm lies in its simplicity – it’s all about dialogue and interactions that feel real. A distinct blend of comedy and family themes, certainly an interesting watch for collectors of TV films.
