The Voyage of Bashô is quite the interesting watch. It’s not your typical documentary, more like a reflective journey through the landscapes that inspired one of Japan's greatest poets. Richard Dindo really captures the essence of Bashô’s spirit. The monk portraying him moves through serene Japanese settings, and it’s almost meditative, you know? The pacing can be slow, but it mirrors the contemplative nature of haiku itself. The blending of documentary and drama really works here, creating a distinct atmosphere. The haikus that are woven throughout are like little gems, bringing forth the beauty in simplicity. Just feels like a gentle nudge to connect with nature and art, which I find refreshing.
