The Winning Stroke

The film follows Paul Browning, a Yale student who faces ridicule from his peers after he reports a hazing incident. His jealousy of Buck Simmons, a star oarsman, grows as Buck also wins the affection of Aida Courtlandt, the dean's niece. In a series of misguided attempts to sabotage Buck's chances in the upcoming Yale-Harvard race, Browning's actions lead to complications that affect both their standings and relationships.

As the plot unfolds, Browning's efforts to disgrace Buck backfire, resulting in Buck's suspension due to a planted letter. However, with Aida's intervention, the situation is resolved, and Yale eventually triumphs in the race. The film concludes with Buck being named captain of the team and becoming engaged to Aida, highlighting themes of sportsmanship and personal growth amidst rivalry.
