The film follows a young graduate from a Musical teacher's training school who is sent to a collective farm in the Nonblack Soil Zone. Her initial wish is to return to the city and pursue her career as a pop singer. However, the villagers warmly welcome her and make efforts to ensure her stay, offering her comforts like good lodging, a telephone, and even an accordion.

As the story unfolds, the protagonist begins to connect with the local community and their way of life. The farm head, played by Boris Nevzorov, develops feelings for her and is determined to keep her from leaving. This leads to a transformative experience for the city girl, as she navigates her skepticism and starts appreciating the beauty of rural life and the growing romance with the farm head.
