This Side of Resurrection

This Side of Resurrection tells the story of Inês and Rafael, siblings separated by their parents' divorce. Inês seeks out her brother at Guincho Beach, where Rafael, an ex-surf champion, tests the limits of his life by braving dangerous waves. Their reunion is marked by a shared promise of paradise, recalling happier family memories.

As Inês attempts to reconnect with Rafael, she discovers the depth of his struggles. Rafael's fixation on the Serra de Sintra mountains and the Convent of the Capuchos reveals his internal crisis of faith. When he disappears back to the convent, Inês faces the challenge of bringing her brother back from his self-imposed isolation. This film presents a poignant exploration of familial bonds against the backdrop of surfing and personal redemption.
