Three Bewildered People in the Night is an interesting film from '87 that captures a particular moment in time for young adults. The whole vibe is so intimate and raw, set mostly in a late-night coffee shop where David, Craig, and Alicia wrestle with their tangled emotions and sexuality. There's an almost dreamlike quality to the pacing; it feels like a long, reflective conversation where silence speaks as loudly as dialogue. The performances are pretty earnest, which makes their existential angst resonate. Even though the director's name isn’t widely known, the character dynamics and the exploration of human connection are what really stick with you. It's definitely got a distinct atmosphere that sets it apart from other dramas of the era.
