Thugs of Shinjuku

The film follows Goro, who adopts the name "Big Brother Katsumata" after his release from prison. Struggling to fit in with established gangs, he assembles a group of misfits known as the "Shinjuku Brothers." This rag-tag gang aspires to yakuza status but finds themselves at odds with the traditional hierarchy.

As they attend a gangster's funeral, their presence creates tension. However, a senior boss steps in to diffuse the situation and surprisingly invites them to join a respected council of warlords. This unexpected invitation raises questions for Katsumata about the motives of the powerful figures in the yakuza world. With its exploration of loyalty and ambition, Thugs of Shinjuku offers a gritty portrayal of life in the criminal underbelly of Japan.
