Tierra de nuestras madres

The film tells the story of Rosario, who lives with her disabled son Ofelio, along with a donkey and a goat. She makes a living selling fig tree salt, which is known for its ancient uses among the elderly. However, her business also caters to younger customers by mixing the salt with pharmacy tranquilizers.

Set in a village in La Mancha, the film highlights the impact of gambling addiction on the community. As the rulers of the village decide to sell the land, the residents resign themselves to this fate. Rosario's home and pond, however, stand in the way of this forced sale, creating a focal point of resistance against the changes sweeping through their lives.
