Tjita-Tjita Ajah

The plot of Tjita-Tjita Ajah follows Firman, who inherits land and a hut from his father. He works diligently selling fruits to support his younger brother Agus in completing his university education. The narrative intensifies as Agus falls in love with Isma, the daughter of a middle-class tailor, leading to family tensions and societal pressures.

As the story unfolds, Isma's mother, Mrs. Slamet, is initially resistant to Agus, particularly due to the influence of a wealthy widow, Mrs. Dirham, who hopes for her son John to marry Isma. Despite John's disparaging attitude towards Agus, Isma's feelings for Agus strengthen, creating a complex love triangle. Ultimately, Mrs. Slamet realizes the depth of Isma's affection and accepts Agus' proposal, with John agreeing to cover the marriage expenses.
