Two Great Sheep

Set in the rural Yunnan province near Zhaotong, the film follows Zhao Deshan and his wife Xiuzhi as they navigate the challenges posed by the local mayor's well-meaning yet misguided gift of two sheep. Initially seen as a path to prosperity, the couple finds themselves grappling with the sheep's refusal to adapt to their new environment.

As the narrative unfolds, the couple's ingenuity is tested as they attempt to make the sheep appear more valuable than they really are. This struggle leads to an unexpected bond, highlighting the sheep's role not just as animals but as companions in their lives. When the local authorities ultimately repossess the sheep, the couple faces the harsh reality of their situation, raising questions about value, hope, and community.
