Uitgesloten

Set in 1983, Uitgesloten follows 18-year-old Jonathan and his best friend Coen as they grapple with the constraints of their upbringing within the Jehovah's Witness community. Despite their strict rules, the boys yearn for freedom and form connections with their girlfriends, Marjan and Annemiek, who are immersed in a world of art and counterculture.

As Jonathan and Coen juggle their double lives, they participate in the expectations of their faith by distributing religious literature and performing in a band for the Jehovah's Witnesses. However, their secretive lifestyle leads them to attend ska concerts and frequent squatters' bars, deepening their ties to a life that starkly contrasts their upbringing. The film explores themes of identity, societal pressure, and the quest for personal freedom.
