Under Surveillance is quite a curious piece from 2006 that gives off this eerie atmosphere right from the start. It dives into the unsettling vibe of a house that’s been turned into apartments, where the mundane clashes with the sinister. Justin Besler's return is layered with a slow-building tension, and the pacing keeps you guessing about the residents' true natures. The practical effects are surprisingly well done for a lesser-known title, and some of the performances pull you in, particularly how they manage to convey paranoia amongst the characters. There’s this underlying theme of isolation, even when surrounded by others, which makes it distinctive in the horror genre. It’s definitely one of those films that lingers in your mind.
