Under the Shadow

The film follows Shideh, a mother living in Tehran during the 1980s Iran-Iraq War, whose apartment building is struck by a missile. After the attack, a neighbor suggests the missile carries a curse, unleashing djinn—evil spirits from Middle Eastern folklore. Shideh becomes increasingly convinced that one of these supernatural entities is trying to possess her daughter Dorsa, forcing her to face both external threats of war and internal fears tied to family and tradition.

Under the Shadow was produced by Wigwam Films, Creativity Capital, and MENA Film, reflecting a collaboration that brought a unique Middle Eastern perspective to horror cinema. Narges Rashidi stars as Shideh, delivering a performance that anchors the film’s blend of psychological and supernatural horror.
