The film follows Wallace Roney, Miles Davis' protégé, as he works to recover and bring these compositions to life.

As Roney prepares to record this monumental work, he faces the challenge of honoring Davis' legacy while navigating his own artistic journey. The film takes on a deeper emotional layer following Roney's unexpected passing in March 2020, just before the music was set to be released. This adds poignancy to the story, illustrating the weight of legacy in the world of jazz and music.
