The story follows Nurse Sinikka as she attempts to assist a prisoner who crosses the border from the Soviet Union. Together with her fiancé, they devise a plan to facilitate the escape through Finland, relying on the support of her mother. However, complications arise when Ruth, the girlfriend of Sinikka's brother, witnesses the escape, putting everyone involved in jeopardy.

With a talented cast that includes Pirkko Peltonen, Ville-Veikko Salminen, and Maija Karhi, the film delves into themes of love, courage, and the risks associated with defiance against oppressive regimes.
