Vatanyolu – Die Heimreise

Set in the 1960s, Vatanyolu – Die Heimreise follows Yusuf, who returns to Turkey after living for 20 years in Germany. He embarks on a crowded minibus trip with his family, but tensions arise when his eldest son decides to sabotage the journey in order to stay in Germany and finish his training. This decision leaves the family stranded in the woods, compelling them to build a new life in Turkey.

As they establish their new home, external pressures from authorities lead to a compromise. The children remain in Germany while Yusuf and his wife return to Turkey with their youngest daughter. The film delves into the struggles and sacrifices faced by immigrants, making it a poignant addition to any collection focused on international and cultural narratives.
