Volviendo a casa

This documentary presents a historical narrative centered on the Italian submarine Macalle, which was shipwrecked during World War II. The film recounts the harrowing experience of 45 crew members who found themselves stranded on an isolated island after the wreck.

The story focuses on the fate of Carlo Acefalo, who died on that island and was buried by his comrades. Almost 80 years later, a team embarks on a mission to recover his remains, bringing them back to his village of Castiglione Falletto. The film captures the emotional impact of this journey, culminating in a funeral ceremony that draws nearly the entire village together to honor Carlo's memory.
